The groundbreaking debut album Suicide will be re-released as part of the Art Of Album series. The Art Of The Album series aims to present listeners with perfect reissues of classic albums. With no extra tracks or other extras, the focus is on the album itself. Alan Vega and Martin Reve's debut album has been remastered for this release and is accompanied by exclusive photographs and extensive liner notes by John Doran (The Quietus), which detail the context, reception and legacy of the album. Originally released in 1977 on the Red Star label, the album didn't receive much acclaim at the time, but over the years has become one of the most influential post-punk albums ever. Many publications have cited it as one of the best albums of all time. The number of bands Suicide has influenced is also legendary. New Order, Depeche Mode, Bruce Springsteen, Moby, Soft Cell, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Primal Scream and Nick Cave are just a few of their renowned fans. Suicide formed in the early 1970s and re-emerged in 1976 at the heart of the New York punk scene. The band was releasing and playing acclaimed shows all over the place until 2015 - the death of Alan Vega in July 2016 ended their existence.
