Wolfsheim

Wolfsheim

German Synthpop Duo

Wolfsheim is a German synthpop duo consisting of Markus Reinhardt and Peter Heppner. They formed in 1987 and are known for their dark, melancholic melodies and introspective lyrics. The band's name is taken from a character in F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby." Wolfsheim gained popularity in the 1990s with a string of successful albums, including "No Happy View" in 1992 and "Casting Shadows" in 2003, which was their last studio album before going on an indefinite hiatus. Their music is characterized by a blend of electronic beats, emotive vocals, and synth-driven soundscapes. The duo's hit single "The Sparrows and the Nightingales" from their debut album "No Happy View" is particularly notable for its enduring appeal within the darkwave and synthpop scenes. Despite their separation, Wolfsheim's music continues to be celebrated by fans of the genre.
