Scottish Virtuoso Violist

William Primrose (1904-1982) was a renowned Scottish violist, celebrated for his exceptional technique and rich tone. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest violists of the 20th century. Primrose began his musical career as a violinist, studying at the Guildhall School of Music in London and later with the famed violin teacher Eugène Ysaÿe in Brussels. However, he transitioned to the viola, which ultimately became his instrument of choice.
