Vassilis Tsabropoulos

Vassilis Tsabropoulos

Greek Pianist and Composer

Vassilis Tsabropoulos is a renowned Greek pianist, composer, and conductor, celebrated for his versatility and depth in both classical and jazz music. Born in Athens in 1966, Tsabropoulos began playing the piano at a young age and went on to study at the Paris Conservatoire under the tutelage of Aldo Ciccolini. His career has been marked by a series of successful collaborations and performances across Europe and beyond. Tsabropoulos has a rich discography that includes solo piano works, chamber music, and recordings with orchestras. His style is often characterized by a blending of classical music traditions with improvisational elements from jazz, which is evident in some of his albums such as "Achirana," where he collaborated with Norwegian bassist Arild Andersen and British drummer John Marshall. "The Triangle" further showcases his prowess in a trio setting, while "Chants, Hymns And Dances" reflects his interest in spiritual and Byzantine music, featuring compositions inspired by G.I. Gurdjieff and Thomas de Hartmann. Tsabropoulos's contributions to both the classical and contemporary music scenes have established him as a significant figure in the world of music.
