Ursula Le Guin

Ursula K. Le Guin was not primarily known as a musician or composer; she was an acclaimed American author of novels, poetry, and essays, particularly recognized for her works of speculative fiction and science fiction. Her career spanned several decades, during which she garnered numerous accolades, including Hugo and Nebula Awards for her novels such as "The Left Hand of Darkness" and "The Dispossessed." However, in a unique collaboration with composer Todd Barton, Le Guin did venture into the realm of music with the album "Music and Poetry of the Kesh" (1985), which accompanied her novel "Always Coming Home." The album features music and poetry that Le Guin imagined to be part of the culture of the Kesh, a fictional society depicted in the novel. This project showcased her versatility and deep engagement with world-building in her literature.
