Tommy Roe

60s Pop Rock Singer-Songwriter

Tommy Roe is an American pop singer-songwriter best known for his hits during the 1960s and early 1970s. Born on May 9, 1942, in Atlanta, Georgia, Roe became famous for his bubblegum pop style with catchy melodies and simple lyrics. His breakthrough single "Sheila" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1962. Following the success of "Sheila," Roe continued to release a string of hits including "Everybody," "Sweet Pea," "Hooray for Hazel," and "Dizzy," which also topped the charts in 1969. Throughout his career, Tommy Roe has been recognized for his contributions to the genre and has toured internationally, sharing his music with fans around the world. While he is not directly associated with producing albums for Roy Orbison or having albums titled "Roy Orbison Sings" or "Sheila / Something For Everybody," Roe's own discography includes numerous singles and albums that reflect his distinctive style within the pop music scene of his era.
