The Pretenders

British-American rock band

The Pretenders are an English-American rock band formed in March 1978. The original band consisted of founder and mainstay Chrissie Hynde (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), James Honeyman-Scott (lead guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), Pete Farndon (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Martin Chambers (drums, backing vocals, percussion). The band's self-titled debut album "Pretenders" was released in 1980 and was a critical and commercial success. It featured hit singles such as "Brass in Pocket," "Kid," and "Stop Your Sobbing." Their follow-up album, "Pretenders II," came out in 1981 and continued their success with singles like "Talk of the Town" and "Message of Love."
