The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys

Legendary American Country and Gospel Vocal Quartet

The Oak Ridge Boys are an American country and gospel vocal quartet. The group was founded in the 1940s as the Oak Ridge Quartet and became popular in southern gospel during the 1950s. Their name was changed to the Oak Ridge Boys in the 1960s, and they began to focus on country music in the mid-1970s. The lineup which brought them to prominence in the country genre includes Duane Allen (lead), Joe Bonsall (tenor), William Lee Golden (baritone), and Richard Sterban (bass). They are known for their rich harmonies and a string of hits that started in the late 1970s.
