The L.A. Express

The L.A. Express

Jazz Fusion Group

The L.A. Express was a prominent jazz fusion band in the 1970s, known for their work with singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, particularly on her live album "Miles of Aisles" released in 1974. The band was formed by saxophonist Tom Scott, who was a well-respected session musician and had his own group called The Tom Scott Quartet. The L.A. Express members included Max Bennett on bass, John Guerin on drums, Larry Carlton on guitar, and Joe Sample on keyboards, all of whom were accomplished musicians in their own right.
