The Dave Pike Set

The Dave Pike Set

Jazz Vibraphonist Dave Pikes Eclectic Ensemble

The Dave Pike Set was a jazz-fusion band led by American vibraphonist Dave Pike, who was known for his distinctive approach to the instrument. The group was active primarily in the late 1960s and early 1970s, during which time they gained recognition for their innovative blend of jazz with rock, funk, and other genres. Dave Pike himself had a notable career that spanned several decades, starting in the 1950s. He played with many jazz luminaries, including Bill Evans and Herbie Mann, before forming his own group. The Dave Pike Set released several albums that showcased their eclectic style, and they were particularly well-received in Europe. Pike's work with the Set contributed to the development of what would later be known as jazz-rock fusion.
