The Blue Notes

The Blue Notes

The Blue Notes is a name that has been associated with various musical groups over the years, but one of the most notable is Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, an American R&B/Soul group. Founded in Philadelphia in the early 1950s by Harold Melvin, they became one of the most popular groups of the soul and R&B era. The group's classic lineup featured lead singer Teddy Pendergrass and they were instrumental in shaping the Sound of Philadelphia in the 1970s. They are known for hits such as "If You Don't Know Me by Now," "The Love I Lost," and "Wake Up Everybody." The group underwent several lineup changes over the years and continued to perform with varying members even after Harold Melvin's death in 1997.
