Symfonia

International Power Metal Supergroup

Symfonia was a short-lived power metal supergroup formed in 2010. The band consisted of notable musicians from the power metal scene, including Andre Matos, the former vocalist of Angra and Shaman, guitarist Timo Tolkki formerly of Stratovarius, drummer Uli Kusch formerly of Helloween and Masterplan, bassist Jari Kainulainen previously with Stratovarius and Evergrey, and keyboardist Mikko Härkin formerly of Sonata Arctica. Symfonia was conceived as a collaborative project that aimed to bring together the talents of these experienced artists to create music that harked back to the golden era of power metal. They released their debut album "In Paradisum" in 2011. Despite the pedigree of its members and the initial excitement surrounding their formation, Symfonia did not continue beyond their first album and disbanded shortly after its release. The group's existence was brief, but it left an impression on fans of the genre for bringing together such renowned figures in power metal for a singular project.
