Swell Maps

Swell Maps

British Experimental Punk Band

Swell Maps were an experimental rock band that emerged from the British post-punk scene in the late 1970s. Formed by brothers Nikki Sudden (Nick Godfrey) and Epic Soundtracks (Kevin Godfrey), along with Richard Earl, Jowe Head, and David Barrington, the band was known for its eclectic style and DIY ethos. They released their debut album "A Trip to Marineville" in 1979, which was followed by "Jane from Occupied Europe" in 1980. These records combined punk rock's raw energy with elements of avant-garde and noise, establishing Swell Maps as influential figures within the independent music scene. Although they disbanded in 1980, their music has continued to inspire a range of alternative and indie musicians. The albums "International Rescue," "Sweep The Desert," and "MayDay Signals" are compilations or archival releases that came out posthumously, showcasing the band's unreleased material and rarities.
