Award-Winning American Musical Theatre Lyricist and Composer

Stephen Schwartz is a renowned American musical theatre lyricist and composer. Born on March 6, 1948, he has made significant contributions to both Broadway and the film industry. Schwartz's career took off with the success of "Godspell" in 1971, for which he wrote the music and new lyrics. This was followed by other major stage works including "Pippin" (1972) and "The Magic Show" (1974). In addition to his work on stage, Schwartz has also made a name for himself in the world of animated films. He collaborated with composer Alan Menken on the scores for Disney's "Pocahontas" (1995) and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1996), both of which were praised for their memorable music and songs.
