Sioux City Six

Sioux City Six

The Sioux City Six was a small jazz group that was active in the early 1920s. It was a subset of the larger band, the New Orleans Rhythm Kings (NORK), which was one of the most influential white jazz groups of its time. The Sioux City Six featured key members from NORK, including cornetist Paul Mares, trombonist George Brunies, and clarinetist Leon Roppolo. They were known for their Dixieland style of jazz, which was characterized by collective improvisation and a lively, upbeat sound.
