Sacros

Sacros

Important & pioneer chilean rock, psychedelic rock, "nueva canción chilena", folklore, experimental & pop band, founded end of the 60s in Santiago. They recorded 1973 only one album (by the state label IRT (2)), which it will be release on September, 18 of 1973, but due to the Coup d´Etat in Chile, it was never "official released", and was only pressed an amount of about about 450 Lps, from that only a few was sold. Therefore, as the label was took in hand of the army, they placed a new artist manager of the whole label there, who was given the order to destroy much of the masters of the old -still in contract- artists (although the fact, that much of the songs of "Los Sacros" was neither political, nor protest songs or something in this direction). But, as Patricio Panussis went to the IRT label, to inquire what happened to their recording, he found with surprise, that the new manager was an old acquaintance of him ( actually and ex-member of Los Rockets (3)), who told him about the whole, and helped him to get a copy of the masters: This manager and friend, also recommended Panussis, that due to the political and terror situation that govern in the country then, to change their band name, if they wanted also to continue performing, playing or even try to release the album through a (new) label. And because of that fact, it result that Panussis reformed the group (as Gana and Valdovinos were not longer residing in the country, and went to exile, to became well known painters in Europe), inviting some new musicians (the likes of Juan Carlos Duque and the ex- members of the psychedelic & acid rock band Escombros Fernando Mosquera and Lito Benito) to join in, renamed it as "Miel" (Honig) (Miel (6)), and resigning with IRT (2) under this new name, and a new sound, more classic, hard rock, funk-soul oriented. Members were: - Patricio Panussis: guitar, 12 string guitar and lead vocals - Hernán Valdovinos: bass and vocals - Andrés "Titi" Gana Other part time members: - Tomás R. Herrera: percussions - Carlos Salazar - Baltasar Villaseca - Juan Carlos Carmona
