Rodolphe Kreutzer

Rodolphe Kreutzer

French violinist and composer

Rodolphe Kreutzer (1766–1831) was a French violinist, teacher, conductor, and composer of the classical and early romantic periods. He is perhaps best known for his pedagogical contributions, particularly the "42 Études ou Caprices" for the violin, which are still widely used for teaching purposes today. Kreutzer was esteemed as one of the finest violinists of his time and served as the concertmaster at the Théâtre Italien in Paris. He also became a professor of violin at the Conservatoire de Paris.
