New Jersey Death Metal Pioneers

Ripping Corpse was an American death metal band formed in 1987 in Red Bank, New Jersey. They were known for their aggressive style of death metal with technical guitar work. The band's lineup included notable musicians such as guitarist Erik Rutan, who would later go on to form Hate Eternal and also play with Morbid Angel, and vocalist Scott Ruth. Ripping Corpse released their only full-length album, "Dreaming with the Dead," in 1991, which has since become a cult classic within the death metal community. Despite their short-lived career, with the band disbanding in the early 1990s, Ripping Corpse made a significant impact on the East Coast metal scene and influenced a number of later extreme metal acts.
