Rinaldo Alessandrini

Rinaldo Alessandrini

Italian Harpsichordist and Conductor

Rinaldo Alessandrini is an Italian conductor, harpsichordist, and scholar of early music. Born on January 25, 1960, in Rome, he is particularly noted for his interpretations of Baroque music, especially the works of Monteverdi and Vivaldi. Alessandrini founded the ensemble Concerto Italiano in 1984, which quickly gained international acclaim for its authentic and lively performances of Italian Baroque music. Under his direction, Concerto Italiano has recorded extensively, and their albums have received numerous awards. Alessandrini's work is characterized by a meticulous approach to historical performance practice, which involves using period instruments and techniques to recreate the sounds and styles that were intended by the composers at the time the music was written. His contributions to the field of early music have made him a respected figure among both scholars and classical music enthusiasts.
