From their homepage: „For over 15 years, Percussion Under Construction has been known for staging thrilling percussion shows on large stages as well as captivating their listeners with unconventional sounds and charming playfulness in chamber concerts with a small cast. Emerging from the "Dance & Percussion" series, in which the drummers of the Saarland State Orchestra brought novel playing formats to the stage in interaction with dancers, the fusion of various elements into a homogeneous, theme-based stage performance as well as stylistic flexibility have long since become the hallmark of the ensemble. Propane gas burners for hot air balloons, thunder machines, water drums, live staged aircraft engines, lighters or garbage cans - the ensemble elicits unique sounds from everyday objects and combines them with virtuosoly played percussion and electronics to create new sound worlds. Their sound is rounded off by instruments specially built for their pieces of music, such as Rohrophone and monochorde. From well-known classical drum literature to experimental music, from folklore to pop music to sophisticated original compositions and arrangements for changing casts - the formation is always driven by the search for new sound spaces and possibilities of expression. The musical versatility of the drum ensemble is also reflected in the invitations that the percussionists follow: Percussion Under Construction play several shows annually at the Saarländisches Staatstheater, appeared in the Philharmonie Luxemburg, at the festivals "Euroclassic" and "Zappanale", at the award ceremony of the German Theatre Prize ("Der Faust") and at more extraordinary venues, such as the Saarbrücken Airport. On their debut album "Locked Down?", on which, in addition to their own compositions, a world premiere recording by the Chinese composer Tan Dun can be heard, they were able to win renowned guest musicians, such as the sopranosers Valda Wilson, the drummer Christopher Garcia or Scorpions drummer Herman Rarebell. Concerts or their highlights were broadcast on 3sat, SR, SWR, WDR and Rockradio.de, among others.“
