Czech String Quartet

The Panocha Quartet is a renowned Czech string quartet that has been active since its formation in 1968. The ensemble, named after the Czech word for "sugarloaf," was founded by students at the Prague Conservatory and quickly established itself as one of the leading chamber music groups in Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic. The quartet's members have included violinists Jiří Panocha and Pavel Zejfart, violist Miroslav Sehnoutka, and cellist Jaroslav Kulhan. They are particularly noted for their interpretations of Czech composers, such as Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, and Leoš Janáček.
