Modernettes

Modernettes

Canadian punk rock band

The Modernettes were a Canadian punk rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia, active during the late 1970s and early 1980s. They were part of the city's vibrant punk scene and are known for their energetic sound and catchy tunes. The band consisted of members John Armstrong (Buck Cherry), Mary Jo Kopechne, and various drummers over the years including John McAdams and Ian Tiles. They released several records, including the notable EP "Teen City" in 1980, which became a classic of Canadian punk. The Modernettes' music was characterized by its raw, straightforward punk rock style with pop sensibilities. Although they never achieved widespread commercial success, they have maintained a cult following and are remembered for their contribution to the Canadian punk movement.
