Mitch Ryder is an American musician known for his soulful voice and his blend of rock and roll with R&B. Born William S. Levise, Jr. on February 26, 1945, in Hamtramck, Michigan, he became famous in the mid-1960s as the lead singer of Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels. The group was known for their energetic music and had several hits including "Devil with a Blue Dress On," which was later covered by many other artists. After the Detroit Wheels disbanded, Ryder pursued a solo career and continued to release albums and perform. His work has been recognized for its influence on American music, particularly in the rock and soul genres. Ryder's career has spanned several decades, during which he has released numerous albums and maintained a dedicated fan base.
