Russian Romantic Composer

Mikhail Mikhailovich Ippolitov-Ivanov was a Russian composer, conductor, and teacher who lived from 1859 to 1935. He studied under Rimsky-Korsakov at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory and later succeeded Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov in his teaching position at the Moscow Conservatory. Ippolitov-Ivanov is known for incorporating Caucasian and Georgian folk music elements into his compositions, reflecting his time as the director of the Tiflis (now Tbilisi) School of Music and Drama in Georgia.
