Manos Hadjidakis was a renowned Greek composer and theorist, born on October 23, 1925, in Xanthi, Greece, and passed away on June 15, 1994. He was a pivotal figure in the modern Greek music scene and is best known internationally for his song "Never on Sunday" from the film of the same name, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1960. Hadjidakis's work was deeply rooted in Greek music tradition but also incorporated elements from classical and contemporary genres.
