Lloyd Price

Rock and Roll Pioneer and R&B Singer

Lloyd Price was an influential American R&B and rock and roll singer, songwriter, and record executive. Born on March 9, 1933, in Kenner, Louisiana, Price broke onto the music scene with his first hit "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" in 1952, which became a major R&B success. His career was temporarily interrupted when he was drafted into the military in 1954, but upon his return to civilian life in 1956, he quickly reestablished himself as a prominent figure in the music industry.
