Lindisfarne

Lindisfarne

British folk-rock group

Lindisfarne was a British folk-rock band that originated from Newcastle upon Tyne in the late 1960s. The group achieved commercial success and recognition in the early 1970s with their album "Fog on the Tyne," which became the UK's biggest-selling album of 1972. The band's music was a blend of folk, rock, and progressive elements, characterized by strong harmonies, acoustic instrumentation, and the distinctive voice of frontman Alan Hull. Lindisfarne's lineup underwent several changes throughout their career, but they continued to record and perform with varying degrees of success. They are remembered for their hit singles such as "Meet Me on the Corner" and "Lady Eleanor." Despite fluctuating popularity and periods of inactivity, Lindisfarne left a lasting legacy on the British folk-rock scene before eventually disbanding.
