Kris Kross

Kris Kross

90s American Hip-Hop Duo

Kris Kross was an American hip hop duo consisting of Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith. The pair rose to fame in the early 1990s with their hit song "Jump," which was released on their debut album "Totally Krossed Out" in 1992. Known for their distinctive style of wearing clothes backwards, Kris Kross became a cultural phenomenon and a symbol of the era's youth-oriented hip hop scene. The success of "Jump," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks, helped propel their album to multi-platinum status. Kris Kross went on to release two more albums, "Da Bomb" in 1993 and "Young, Rich & Dangerous" in 1996, though neither achieved the same level of success as their debut. The group's popularity waned in the late '90s, and they disbanded after their third album. They briefly reunited in 2013 for a performance to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Jermaine Dupri's So So Def Recordings before Chris Kelly's untimely death that same year.
