Karl Anton Rickenbacher was a Swiss conductor known for his interpretations of late-Romantic and 20th-century music. Born on April 20, 1940, in Basel, Switzerland, he pursued his musical education at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and furthered his studies under prominent figures such as Herbert von Karajan. Rickenbacher held various prestigious positions throughout his career, including chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra and the Bern Symphony Orchestra. He also served as the principal guest conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
