John Prine

John Prine

Acclaimed American Folk Singer-Songwriter

John Prine was an American country folk singer-songwriter known for his raspy voice and poignant, often humorous style of songwriting. Born on October 10, 1946, in Maywood, Illinois, Prine began his career in the Chicago folk scene in the late 1960s. He was discovered by Kris Kristofferson, which led to the release of his self-titled debut album "John Prine" in 1971. This album included classics such as "Angel from Montgomery" and "Paradise," which would go on to become staples in the American folk repertoire.
