John Hutchinson

John Hutchinson

British guitarist and David Bowie collaborator

John 'Hutch' Hutchinson was a guitarist and collaborator with David Bowie, particularly known for his work during the 1960s and 1970s. He played in several of Bowie's early bands, including The Buzz and Feathers. Hutchinson's most notable contributions were during the period when Bowie was transitioning from his mod-style music to the more folk-influenced sounds that would characterize his early albums. He was involved in the recording of the "Space Oddity" demo, which helped secure Bowie a record deal for his eponymous 1969 album that included the hit single "Space Oddity." While Hutchinson did not achieve widespread fame independently, his role in supporting Bowie during a critical phase of the latter's career is well-documented. The "Clareville Grove Demos" mentioned are a set of recordings featuring David Bowie and John Hutchinson from 1969, which were later released for fans to appreciate the early work of David Bowie and his collaboration with Hutchinson.
