Jacques Aubert, also known as Jacques Aubert le Vieux (the Elder), was a French composer and violinist born on September 30, 1689, in Paris. He was a prominent figure in the early 18th-century French music scene and is best known for his contribution to the development of the violin concerto in France. Aubert held various positions throughout his career, including being a member of the Vingt-quatre Violons du Roi (Twenty-Four Violins of the King), which was the most prestigious group of string players in France at the time.
