Ike Quebec was an American jazz tenor saxophonist who made significant contributions to the genre during the 1940s and 1950s. Born on August 17, 1918, in Newark, New Jersey, Quebec was known for his distinctive warm tone and soulful approach to playing. He became a prominent figure in the hard bop and soul jazz movements, working with a variety of labels including Blue Note Records. Throughout his career, Quebec performed with a number of renowned artists and bands, including Cab Calloway, Benny Carter, and Coleman Hawkins.
