Hum is an alternative rock band from Champaign, Illinois, known for their heavy, atmospheric sound that incorporates elements of shoegaze and post-hardcore. Formed in 1989, the band consists of Matt Talbott (vocals/guitar), Tim Lash (guitar), Jeff Dimpsey (bass), and Bryan St. Pere (drums). They gained recognition in the mid-1990s with their third album, "You'd Prefer an Astronaut," which was released in 1995 and featured their most well-known single, "Stars."
