Influential 20th-Century German Conductor

Hermann Scherchen (1891–1966) was a renowned German conductor who made significant contributions to the world of classical music in the 20th century. He was known for his interpretations of contemporary music as well as his work with the standard repertoire. Scherchen held various conducting positions throughout Europe and was particularly noted for his advocacy of new music, including works by composers such as Arnold Schoenberg and Anton Webern.
