Herb Alpert is an American trumpeter, composer, and bandleader who became famous as the leader of Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, a group that enjoyed immense popularity in the 1960s. Born on March 31, 1935, in Los Angeles, California, Alpert began his career by writing and producing songs for other artists before stepping into the spotlight himself. His breakthrough came with the hit single "The Lonely Bull" in 1962, which led to the formation of the Tijuana Brass and a distinctive sound that blended Latin, jazz, and pop elements.
