Héctor Sandoval

Héctor Sandoval

Tenor. He graduated from the National Conservatory of Music of Mexico (where he took classes with Enrique Jaso) and in 1994 he traveled to Europe, where he continued his training at the Superior School of Music and Dramatic Art of Vienna. He studied repertoire with Plácido Domingo, Walter Berry, Luigi Alva, Chris Merrit and Ghena Dimitrova; and vocal technique with Francisco Araiza. He has performed in prestigious lyric theatres in the United States, Europe and Latin America, such as the Vienna, Hamburg and Paris Opera Houses, the Stuttgart and Mexican State Opera Houses, the Salzburg Festspielen, the Bregenzer Festspiele, the Zurich Parma, the Bolshoi Theater, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Teatro Regio di Parma and La Monnaie (Brussels). In the current season's commitments, his performances in the cities of Tel Aviv, Prague, Dortmund and Florence in productions such as Simon Boccanegra, Andrea Chénier and his debut in Gaspare Soontini's opera Fernand Cortez in the leading role are worthy of note. His repertoire includes the roles of Radames (Aida), Riccardo (Una ballo in maschera), Manrico (Il trovatore), Don Carlos (Don Carlos), Pollione (Norma), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Calaf (Turandot), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) and Fausto (Fausto), among others. In addition to opera, he performs operettas, zarzuelas and oratory. In 2001 he won the International Competition of the Kammeroper Rheinsberg Festival and in 1998 he was awarded at the Victoria Reggia Festival.
