Guilt Machine is a musical project founded by Dutch musician and composer Arjen Anthony Lucassen, known for his progressive rock and metal projects such as Ayreon, Star One, and The Gentle Storm. Guilt Machine was formed as a side project to explore a different facet of Lucassen's musical interests. The project released its debut album "On This Perfect Day" in 2009. The album features a lineup of notable musicians including Jasper Steverlinck on vocals, Chris Maitland (formerly of Porcupine Tree) on drums, and Lori Linstruth (former guitarist of Stream of Passion) as the lead guitarist. Arjen Lucassen himself played bass, keyboards, and guitar on the album. The music of Guilt Machine is characterized by its atmospheric and melodic approach to progressive rock, with themes that often delve into introspection and human emotion. "On This Perfect Day" was well-received for its conceptual depth and musical craftsmanship, adding another acclaimed chapter to Lucassen's diverse discography.
