Gryphon is a British progressive rock band that was formed in 1971. Known for their unique sound that blended progressive rock with medieval and Renaissance music influences, they stood out in the 1970s music scene for their use of traditional instruments like the crumhorn, bassoon, and recorder alongside guitars and keyboards. The original lineup consisted of Richard Harvey, Brian Gulland, Dave Oberlé, and Graeme Taylor. Gryphon released their eponymous debut album "Gryphon" in 1973 to critical acclaim, showcasing their distinctive fusion of styles.
