Giovan Battista Ferrini

Giovan Battista Ferrini

Italian Baroque Composer and Organist

Giovanni Battista Ferrini (1601–1674) was an Italian composer and organist from the Baroque era. Not much is known about his life, but he was active in the 17th century and is recognized for his contributions to keyboard music. Ferrini's works, including compositions for harpsichord, reflect the stylistic transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque period. His music is characterized by its contrapuntal texture and often includes toccatas, capriccios, and other forms typical of the time. While Ferrini may not be as widely known as some of his contemporaries, his compositions offer valuable insight into the development of keyboard music in Italy during the early Baroque period.
