Enzo Dara

Enzo Dara

Italian Opera Bass-Baritone

Enzo Dara (1938-2017) was an Italian bass-baritone opera singer renowned for his performances in the buffo repertoire. He had a distinguished career that spanned several decades, during which he became particularly associated with the works of Gioachino Rossini. Dara's voice was celebrated for its agility, range, and comic timing, making him an ideal interpreter of roles such as Don Bartolo in "Il Barbiere di Siviglia," Mustafà in "L'Italiana in Algeri," and Dulcamara in "L'Elisir d'Amore." These operas, composed by Rossini and Gaetano Donizetti respectively, are among the most popular in the comic opera genre, and Dara's performances in them were highly acclaimed.
