Dying Fetus is an American death metal band known for their heavy riffs, complex structures, and politically charged lyrics. Formed in 1991 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, the band has undergone several lineup changes throughout its career, with guitarist and vocalist John Gallagher being the only constant member. Dying Fetus quickly established themselves within the underground metal scene with their first full-length album "Purification Through Violence" in 1996. They gained further recognition with their 2000 release "Destroy The Opposition," which is often hailed as a classic within the genre for its technical proficiency and brutal intensity.
