DMZ

DMZ

DMZ is an American proto-punk band that was formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1976. The band was part of the early punk scene and is known for their raw and energetic style of rock 'n' roll. DMZ was led by frontman Jeff Conolly, nicknamed "Mono Man," due to his obsession with vintage monaural recordings. The band's self-titled debut album "DMZ" was released in 1978 and produced by Flo & Eddie (Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan of The Turtles). Although they did not achieve significant commercial success, DMZ has been recognized for their influence on the garage punk and punk movements that followed. Their music is characterized by high-energy performances and a blend of garage rock influences with the burgeoning punk sound of the late 1970s. Despite their relatively short initial run, DMZ's legacy endures in the punk and garage rock scenes, and they are often cited as an important influence by later bands.
