Djabe is a Hungarian jazz/world fusion band that was formed in 1995 by bassist András Sipos and guitarist Attila Égerházi. The band's name means "freedom" in the Ashanti language, reflecting their music's free-flowing and improvisational style. Djabe's sound is characterized by a blend of jazz, fusion, and traditional Hungarian folk music, often incorporating elements from African and Latin music as well. Over the years, Djabe has gained international recognition for their unique sound and has collaborated with several notable musicians, including former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. The band has been prolific in their output, releasing numerous albums that showcase their versatility and musical evolution.
