Déodat de Séverac was a French composer born on July 20, 1872, in Saint-Félix-Lauragais, France, and died on March 24, 1921. He is known for his musical works that often evoke the landscapes and traditions of his native southern France. De Séverac studied under Vincent d'Indy at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and later with Isaac Albéniz in Barcelona. His compositions are characterized by a blend of impressionistic and traditional elements, reflecting his interest in incorporating folk melodies and regional characteristics into his music.
