Demon Fuzz

Demon Fuzz

British Afro-rock band

Demon Fuzz was an Afro-rock band that emerged in the early 1970s. The group's name, "Demon Fuzz," translates to "devil's children" or "bad policemen" in pidgin English. Their music was a fusion of jazz, funk, soul, and African rhythms, which was quite innovative and ahead of its time. They released their debut album "Afreaka!" in 1970, which has since become a cult classic among collectors of rare grooves and progressive rock. The band consisted of seven members: Paddy Corea (saxophone, flute), Ray Rhoden (piano), Sleepy Jack Joseph (bass), Clarance Crosdale (trombone), Ayinde Folarin (percussion), Steven John (drums), and W. Raphael Joseph (vocals). Despite the potential shown on their debut album, Demon Fuzz disbanded shortly after its release due to a lack of commercial success and the challenges associated with the music industry at the time. However, their unique sound has continued to be celebrated by enthusiasts of the genre.
