Death Cab For Cutie

Death Cab For Cutie

Indie Rock Band from Washington

Death Cab for Cutie is an American alternative rock band formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997. The band was originally a solo project of Ben Gibbard, who expanded the project into a full band with the addition of Chris Walla (guitar, keyboards, production), Nick Harmer (bass), and Nathan Good (drums). Over time, the lineup has changed, with Jason McGerr replacing Good on drums. Death Cab for Cutie's music is characterized by its melodic indie rock and emotionally evocative lyrics. They gained a devoted following with their early albums and broke into mainstream success with their fourth album, "Transatlanticism," released in 2003. This album's success paved the way for their next release, "Plans," in 2005, which earned them a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album and included hits like "Soul Meets Body" and "I Will Follow You into the Dark." The band continued to release critically acclaimed albums and maintain a loyal fan base over the years. Their ninth studio album, "Asphalt Meadows," was released in 2022, showcasing their enduring presence in the indie rock scene. Throughout their career, Death Cab for Cutie has been praised for their thoughtful songwriting and consistent evolution of sound.
