Darlyn

Friendship, innovation and a shared inexhaustible passion for music shaped the fresh, raw and rootsy sound of Darlyn, the dutch six piece band. Their hit single ‘Stepping Stone’ began a series of successful adventures: a trip to LA, a lively festival-packed summer and multiple appearances on Dutch national radio and television. March 2020 marked Darlyn’s strong return with their debut album, ‘Was It A Dream’, followed by a club tour across The Netherlands. During the summer of 2018, the band directed their focus inwards to work on writing new music together in the former psychiatric hospital . Alongside known producer Ferdy van der Singel, Darlyn spent two weeks intensively honing their sound and discovering their DNA. The result of this was incredibly tight musicianship which you hear and feel clearly in their singles ‘Show You the Right Way’, ‘10 Dollar Smile’ and ‘Was it a Dream’. In just 10 months later, the band had accomplished writing the second half of their album. However, this time they decided to go toward a different environment for finer sound quality, inspiration and insight - the famous Wisseloord studios in Hilversum. Armed with the support of talented sound engineer Sam Jones, their debut album ‘Was It a Dream’ was born. The result is an enlivening and experimental sound inspired by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Alabama Shakes, Aldous Harding and The Black Keys. An alluring mix of dreamy pop synth, strongly driven rhythm section and catchy, melodious violin results in a trailblazing and innovative mix of roots, pop and 60s/70s inspired sound. Led by the powerful and intoxicatingly immersive voice of Diwa Meijman, the band draws you down a path of romance, passion and life's interesting turns. The band will be on tour throughout The Netherlands to promote their album, ‘Was It a Dream’. in the fall of 2020
