Czech Philharmonic Orchestra/Conductor Václav Neumann

The Česká Filharmonie, also known as the Czech Philharmonic, is a world-renowned symphony orchestra based in Prague. The orchestra was founded in 1896 and has since become one of the leading orchestras in Europe, known for its rich, warm sound and interpretive depth. Over the years, the Czech Philharmonic has been led by a number of distinguished conductors. Among them was Václav Neumann, who served as its chief conductor from 1968 to 1990. Neumann was a prominent Czech conductor and is celebrated for his interpretations of Czech classical music, particularly the works of Antonín Dvořák. Under his leadership, the orchestra not only bolstered its reputation at home but also gained international acclaim through tours and recordings. The Czech Philharmonic continues to maintain a busy schedule of concerts both in the Czech Republic and abroad, upholding its tradition of excellence in performing the works of Czech composers as well as a wide-ranging repertoire of international music.
