Cedar Walton Quartet

Cedar Walton Quartet

Jazz Pianist Cedar Waltons Acclaimed Quartet

Cedar Walton was an American jazz pianist and composer who had a prolific career spanning several decades. Born on January 17, 1934, in Dallas, Texas, Walton grew to become one of the most respected pianists of his generation. He was known for his hard bop style and contributed to many classic recordings as both a leader and a sideman. Walton's career took off in the late 1950s and early 1960s when he played with the likes of J.J. Johnson and Benny Golson's Jazztet. He gained further recognition as a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, where he played alongside Wayne Shorter and Freddie Hubbard.
